17th Dec 2015 - CPD on S.I. No. 365 of 2015
The aim of the seminar is to provide architects and architectural technologists
with an opportunity for advanced thinking of practice issues relating to
S.I. No. 365 of 2015. The seminar will explain S.I. 365 including the
self-build process, provide guidance on both the “design only” service and
the 'design and construction' service and discuss alternative
documentation for each.
2nd Dec 2015 - BER refresher Course
The course is intended to provide those attending with a basic understanding of
how DEAP works and how DEAP is used as a Part L compliance tool with particular
focus on Part L requirements for
* Whole dwelling performance (MPEPC / MPCPC targets)
* Individual minimum performance levels
* Renewable Technologies
This full day programme combines lectures/ presentations and workshop exercises
which are split roughly 50:50 in terms of time allocation.
11th Nov 2015 - Wexford Green Conference
Wexford Chamber are launching the first ever Green Conference in conjunction with
the EPA, Wexford Local Enterprise Office, Wexford County Council, and Econcertive.
The Conference will feature keynote speaker is Duncan Stewart. Other speakers
include Laura Burke of the EPA and John Carley Director of Services.
Economists and energy professionals from over County Wexford to attend.

1st September 2015 - Building Control (Amendement 2)Regulations S.I.365
BC(A2)R SI365 of 2015 as alternative in additon to S.I.9 of 2014 came into force on
the 1st September 2015.
With the new regulations (SI 365 of 2015) it is possible to Opt out of SI9 2014.
When Building a single house or an extension to a house of more than 40 square
metres in area you may opt out of the full S.I.9 process. To avail of this
facility you must sign a form of
'Declaration of Intention to Opt Out of Statutory Certification'
No need for a 'Design Certifier' and 'Assigned Certifier'
Statutory Obligation: Irrespective of whether the homeowner decides
to comply with the statutory certification requirements or to follow the
alternative process now provided for in the regulations, they must continue
to meet their obligation under the Building Control Act 1990 to 2014 to
ensure that the design and construction of the building concerned complies
with the relevant requirements of the Building Regulations.
Homeowners should appraise themselves of any potential cost or other
implications that may arise as a result of choosing to opt out of
the statutory certification process. Prior to deciding on whether
or not to avail of the opt out option, it is recommended that a
homeowner should consult with their solicitor.

21st of May 2015 - The Green Room - Annual Green Building Gathering
The Irish Green Building Council had put together a top line up of national
and international speakers with inspiring case studies for this year's conference.
The conference was opened by Minister for Communications Energy and Natural
Resources Alex White, he updated us on the latest Government, Zeno attended.
9th and 10th of May 2015
Zeno took part again (8th year running) in the Simon Community Open door initiative.
The RIAI & the Simon Communities of Ireland have again joined forces for the 11th annual
fundraising initiative "Simon Open Door" - whereby participating RIAI Architects around
Ireland will opened their offices on a Saturday and Sunday in May 2015, to give members of
the public an hour's consultation with an architect in return for a donation to Simon.
8th of April 2015 - Green Awards 2015 Finalist
We are happy to announce that we are Green Awards 2015 Finalist,
unfortunatly we did not win this year.
27th March 2015 - RIAI BC(A)R Senario Workshop
This 3 hour workshop in Dublin was to explor the Assigned and Design Certifiers role on
Domestic projects. The workshop was well attended. It is clear that the system is still
not working 100% and there are a number of problems that need sorting out.

Train the Trainer Course - FETAC Level 6
For 4 Tuesdays in a row Zeno will do an all day Train the Trainer Course.
To Lean the principles of successful training and to develop confidence, skills and
ability to deliver effective training sessions.
This programme works on three levels. Firstly it explores the total training role,
the next element is selection of the most effective,
efficient and appropriate methods to deliver various types of training, and thirdly
it trains how to prepare and deliver the training.
With this in had Zeno is considering teaching about good building practices and how to deal with
S.I.9 BC(A)R 2014 to builders and sub contractors. As they will now also need to attend
continuing professional development (CPD) courses for Construction Industry Register Ireland(CIRI).

January 2015 - Building Control Regulations
We have done a few commencement notices after the 1st March 2014,
with the new regulations (S.I. 9 of 2014).
Beware an Assigned Certifier MUST BE either
registered architect, chartered engineer or registered building surveyor.
Winkens Architecture are delighted to provide the services of the Dwelling designer.
We would be happy to provide the services of 'Design Certifier' and 'Assigned Certifier'
for projects on which we are involved from the beginning.
